I am Gürkan Soykan, an AI scientist and researcher with a strong background in computer science and natural sciences. My academic journey began in Materials Science research, which later evolved into a deep passion for software development and artificial intelligence. I hold a Master’s degree from Koç University, where I explored multimodality in comics and Natural Language Processing. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD at Wageningen University, focusing on adaptive digital twins for precision agriculture.
My work is centered around digital transformation and the advancement of AI technologies, particularly in areas that bridge the gap between complex data systems and practical, impactful applications. My recent projects include developing deep learning models for comics, enhancing multi-modal emotion recognition, and working on adaptive AI systems for agriculture.
Beyond my academic pursuits, I have a rich experience in software engineering, particularly in mobile and backend development, and I have contributed to several projects as a freelance developer. My technical skills include Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and various machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn, check out my GitHub for code and projects, or follow my thoughts on AI and technology on Medium.
